Bali Bracelets Meaning
Hey guys,
First of all, happy Balinese New Year! If you’re reading this on March 25th that is. ;-)
Because today, the 25th of March 2020 is Nyepi, which means Day of Silence and is the Balinese New Year. It is an amazing spectacle on the island which I highly recommend experiencing one day.
During Nyepi, the island completely shuts down and you’re not allowed to use electricity, make a fire or go into the streets. No working is allowed, nor any form of travel. This results in a completely silent island and as you can guess without any light being used, a number of stars that is flabbergasting to say the least.
The whole sky is just lit with stars. Jawdropping beautiful as you can see below.
During the Balinese New Year, there are tons of rituals and the night before, the last day of the year, there is The Bhuta Yajna Ritual. A procession where most villages make Ogoh-Ogoh, which are demonic statues, and show them during that procession.
This ritual is done to vanquish negative elements and create a balance with God, Mankind, and Nature. This is a big celebration you definitely have to see one day, followed by the one day silence and the beautiful stars.
The reason I am writing about this is that today we are launching the Balinese Bracelets collection, also known as Tri Datu.
Bali has been an important island in our lives and in the life of Chibuntu. It is where the first ideas of Chibuntu started, and sort of a turnaround happened in my personal life. Living for five months on this paradise was the period leading up to many insights and a lot of clarity of what I want to do with it.
As a result, Chibuntu saw daylight!
So with pride, we can say, Bali Bracelets for men are here and this is what the bracelets mean.
As you can see the Tri Datu consists of three colors, Black, Red, and White. You can see these three colors on the pillars of houses and temples on the Island. Tri meaning 3, obviously. And Datu meaning King.
Tri Datu is a symbol of the three gods of Hinduism.
The Black brings power and protects from bad spirits. The red brings up our creativity and courage. And the white calls for spirituality and goodness. As you can see and if you have read the explanation of the name Chibuntu, this matches our brand so well.
The three colors are a reminder that life is not just one color, but has many colors. Birth, death, health, sickness, happiness and feeling shitty, it’s all part of life. The good, the bad, the pretty and the ugly.
We could write big essays and even more details about the meaning of Tri Datu but wanted to keep it simple for now.
We hope this bracelet will be your reminder to live life to the fullest. To embrace everything that comes your way. To stay humble when you’re rocking it, and keep hope when life throws rocks and you’re going through tough times.
We won’t be asking you to do a ceremony when putting on the bracelet, but as you might know with every order you do get a card to set your intention. The write down what you want to achieve or what adventure you want to embark on.
So while we think that’s important for every bracelet, it might even be more appropriate for this one.
We hope you love the Balinese Bracelets as much as we do!
