The Ultimate Guide to Chakra Bracelets
Chibuntu was born during travels to Bali and Thailand. During that time I tried many new things, from surfing to Muay Thai kickboxing. From Yoga to Meditation.
One of the things that stuck with me was meditation. During one of the meditation sessions I joined, they started with a Chakra Meditation.
It was one of the most special meditations I have ever experienced, to date. It truly brought me to a different level and higher energy frequency. After the session I started talking to the teacher that guided the meditation. She explained to me more about the chakras, and what it meant to her. She was wearing a Chakra Bracelet as well which she proudly showed. A very feminine one, because authentic chakra bracelets for men didn’t really exist, until we started designing them.
That talk did trigger me to start looking into the chakra bracelet meaning and the chakra bracelets that were around. I read a ton of books, watches every YouTube Video and even did some retreats to dive into every little detail.
Now, dive into the ultimate guide of chakra bracelets below. It's what I learned, it's what I want to share with you.
Chakra Bracelet Meaning & Origin
The first step, Googling the Chakra Bracelet Meaning. A quick search will yield multitudes of information about the meaning and origin of chakra bracelets.
The idea of Chakras originated thousands of years ago in Hinduism, but has also been incorporated in various Indian religions as well as Buddhism and have continued to be a large focus in yogic philosophy, practice, and healing. Chakra theory postulates that there are seven main energy centers in the body and that when these centers are out of balance, so is the self.
When a person’s chakras are not balanced, it is not uncommon to feel foggy, tired, or even experience physical discomfort or illness. Stressors become debilitating, and even libido can be affected. By rebalancing these energy centers, a person can operate in an optimal state of being and even aid in healing themselves.
The chakra bracelet meaning then comes from the concept that each of these seven chakras is represented by a gemstone or crystal and corresponding color. Chakra bracelets utilize those specific colors, crystals, and gemstones and can provide a healing, meditative, and balancing power, especially when worn on the body. Crystals and gemstones have long been associated with energy centers and healing, which is why it is not surprising that wearing them on the body can be immensely beneficial.
Another part of the chakra bracelet meaning is harnessing the power that comes from the beads on the chakra bracelet, as well as observing the color cues the person wearing the chakra bracelet to tap into a particular energy center in their body, and ultimately balance the chakra centers. This can have many desirable effects, from reducing stress and increasing energy levels to raising productivity and physical health. Because the left side of the body is associated with the feminine side of the spirit, wearers of the bracelet are often encouraged to wear them on the left side as well. It is said that the bracelet being placed on the left side allows energy to be received into the stones on the chakra bracelet, also contributing to the chakra bracelet meaning.
The Seven Chakras
As I’ve mentioned, there are seven chakras. Each is located in a different physical place in the human body, associated with a color and stone, and serves a unique purpose. Because the body operates from these chakra centers, it is often the body which tells us when our energy is uncentered.
The root chakra is located in the base of the spine near the tailbone. This chakras meaning is associated with the color red and provides us with a stable base. The onyx, red jasper, and hematite are fantastically bright red gemstones that tie to the root chakra. When this chakra is balanced, we feel balanced, stable, and grounded. When it is what is called, “blocked,” anxiety disorders, fears, or nightmares can run rampant. Gut issues, lower back, and lower extremity discomfort are also common.
Our sacral chakra, which can be confused with the root chakra, is located just below the belly button, just above the public bone. It is associated with the color orange and the tiger’s eye, carnelian, and sunstone. The chakras meaning is closely linked to sexuality, pleasure, and creativity. When we are balanced in this chakra, we are full of ideas, are abundant, and joyful. However, when this chakra is blocked we can feel uninspired and may even underperform sexually.
The solar plexus chakra is located in the belly, near the stomach. Its color is yellow and our self esteem and confidence is closely linked to it. Its stone is the citrine, pyrite, or amber. The chakras meaning results in causing us to become greedy for power and egotistical if it is overactive. If our solar plexus is blocked, however, self esteem may plunge which may lead to anger or a need to feel “in control.”
The heart chakra is located in the center of the chest, as you’d likely imagine, and is the color green or pink. The most obvious of the chakras meaning, it is associated with love and compassion. The rose quartz, jade, and malachite are all stones or crystals connected with the heart chakra. Again, it is important that the chakra is balanced, instead of being overactive or under-active. A blocked heart chakra could result in jealousy, self hate, hatred of others, and other insensitivities. On the opposite side of the spectrum, an overactive heart chakra can lead to being needy, possessive, and invite a lack of boundaries.
Our next chakra is the throat chakra, and it allows us to communicated effectively, whether it is verbal or nonverbal. Its color is blue and rightfully so, the royal blue lapis lazuli, aquamarine, and kyanite are the crystals associated with the third eye chakra. It is somewhat intuitive that this chakras meaning leads one to dominate conversations, or be tough on others. A blocked throat chakra keeps us quiet and unable to convey our ideas and needs.
One of the better known chakras, the third eye chakra, is located between the eyes on our foreheads. Its color is indigo and it is associated with intuition and imagination. Amethyst, purple fluorite, and labradorite are the crystals associated with the third eye chakra. A well functioning third eye chakra allows us to trust ourselves and learn new things, while an overactive third eye chakra can be judgmental and keep us introverted in our own thoughts. A blocked third eye chakra may manifest as depression or anxiety as well as physical symptoms like headaches.
The chakra at the top of the head is the crown chakra. Its color is violet, and it is connected with awareness and intelligence. It is connected with the selenite, clear quartz, and lepidolite. Ideally, this chakra connects us to “source,” God, or the universe. Gratitude is available, and satisfaction is attainable. When our crown chakra is too open, we overly pursue material things and we are superficial as well as arrogant. To contrast, a blocked crown chakra leaves us feeling energetically bland, dull, and deflated.
How to Unblock the Chakras
Now that we have gone over blocked chakras, we can uncover how to unblock chakras that are out of balance. Some ways worth mentioning include tapping, Yoga, and meditation.
Tapping
Tapping is a technique that is used which involves— you guessed it— tapping with the fingers on the center of each chakra point. When we talk about how to unblock chakras, the idea here is that the vibration from the tapping releases negative energy, which then invites positive energy in. In other words, this tapping technique balances the chakras by opening or blocking them, depending on your needs. Some practitioners recommend a certain amount of numbers of taps, speed of taps, and intensity of taps, and there is an abundance of videos and articles available on the subject. Focusing in on one chakra at a time with tapping allows focus to be drawn to a physical location, which is much less distracting than random tapping in multiple locations.
Yoga
Yoga has been regarded for thousands of years as a reliable tool in balancing chakras. It has been practiced by warriors, monks, religious figures, as well as celebrities, dancers, and fitness enthusiasts. The bending, stretching, and strength building allows the body to physically practice alignment in and of itself. By physically aligning and maintaining alignment of the body, Yoga is a highly effective chakra balancing tool. There are various styles of Yoga and an infinite number of sequences of poses, also called asanas, which are used in chakra balancing. When practicing Yoga, it is easy to incorporate more than one chakra into a session. However, you do have the choice to focus on one chakra. With Yoga, you have options.
Meditation
Meditation is required regardless of how you choose to balance the chakras. Without the mental and spiritual component of meditation, the chakra cannot be balanced physically. Meditation practice allows the mind to rest and for the spirit to connect with the physical body. By allowing this, blocked chakras can be opened and overactive chakras can be reigned in. Another way to utilize the mind through the process of meditation is to allow the mind to visualize the chakras being opened or restored. Visualization will be something we come back to later.
When practicing meditation for the purpose of restoring or balancing the chakras, it is common and efficient to focus on one chakra at a time. Dialing into one chakra allows you to focus your efforts and tune into the particular balancing energy you need.
Another practice which can be incorporated into meditation as well as tapping and Yoga is the practice of using a mantra, or repeating a particular word or phrase as you go through your session. For example, a common mantra is, “calm.” This is a simple word that can have massive impact. Allowing oneself to state, “calm,” can cue you to physically feel calm in a difficult Yoga pose.
Reiki
Another chakra balancing tool is reiki. Reiki dials directly into energy fields, cultivating calming and balancing energy to heal the chakras. The levels of reiki vibrations work with the chakras as well in order to provide optimum balance.
Benefits of Wearing a Chakra Bracelet as a Daily Reminder
While practicing the above techniques to balance the chakras are extremely helpful, what happens when we are going about our daily business? Because most of us do not spend our days in a meditative or yogic state, it may be beneficial to have a reminder of the chakras we are trying to balance. Chakra bracelets are great ways to not only remind us of how to unblock chakras, but to actually aid in our ongoing practice to do so.
Keep in mind that we talked about the crystals or gemstones associated with each chakra— that energy field is, I believe, available to us whenever we want, as we’re connected anyway. We are all one, humanity. That’s also where the second part of the name Chibuntu comes from, Ubuntu. Read all about that here.
A chakra bracelet is a practical way to remind ourselves to stay open and take care of our energy & balance. The ultimate Bracelet Reminder for a healthy, happy and successful life. When I am in a stressful moment in my business, I’m reminded that I have the capability to cultivate the energy that I need. I look down at my bracelet, am able to quietly close my eyes, and take a deep breath. I invite the calming and healing energy in and allow the negative energy to leave my presence. This leaves me feeling grounded and refocused.
I hope you found this article helpful. There is a lot more to the Chakra Bracelets we sell than you would think. Please let us know your thoughts and experience around it.
In summary
There are seven chakras, or main energy centers in the body. Each serves us in a different way, yet they are all connected because they allow us to connect to ourselves and others. Life is nothing without experiencing it together. Meditation, Yoga, reiki, tapping, and mantra work can all facilitate the balancing of our chakras. Not only these practices, but also just being conscious about keeping the energy centers open helps a lot in a better life. For the moment to moment I decided to begin a daily habit of wearing a chakra bracelet. Yes, I can practice Yoga, meditate, and maintain my spiritual connections. However, in the times that I’m not actively pursuing my spiritual practice, this daily reminder is keeping me more connected to myself, to others. It just reminds me to stay open, doing the things that I love and bring me energy, in order to pay it forward.

Hi Simone,
Thanks for asking that question. We believe you can wear it either way. The energy from the Chakra bracelet will do its job no matter what direction you wear it in. With regards to your question about the intentions of a chakra bracelet I personally believe you should focus on becoming the best version of yourself. If you do that, you will be most capable of helping others. When you order a chakra bracelet from us you get a card with it to set your intention. So please use it!
Ruben from Chibuntu® in reply to Simone
Is there a specific direction to wear the chakra bracelet? i.e., does the crown chakra sit inwards(towards your heart) or does the root chakra sit inwards? Does it even matter if our intentions are sincere for wearing it for our own good.
