Military Memorial Bracelets
AUTHOR'S NOTE: My name is Sloane and I live in the United States. When my dear friend, Ruben, asked me to write a guest post, I jumped at the opportunity. I've followed his work for quite some time now, and consider it an honor to be featured here. Without further ado....
Memorial Bracelets
Writing about military memorial bracelets is a topic near and dear to my heart. My father served in the artillery division for the United States Army in the Vietnam War. He was a recent high school graduate when he was drafted into the service. His mother purchased him a one-way bus ticket to Canada and begged him not to go. However, he felt it was his duty as a citizen to fight for our nation.
After Basic Training [where he became extremely close friends with a Sargent Lyles], he left his country for the first time-- only to be flown to the other side of the world as he leaped from a helicopter into the dense Vietnamese jungle. Sgt. Lyles died in my father's arms after his convoy was ambushed by enemy combatants.
The war ended and the soldiers came home. They did not return to the heroic reception of today's veterans-- they were spat on, cursed at, and ridiculed. I will not venture into that dark chapter of American history, but suffice it to say, my beloved mother took action. She authored the "My Turn" editorial in the popular magazine Newsweek about the horrific treatment of our forgotten Vietnam veterans. To this day, her article, complete with photo and byline, holds a place of honor in a frame upstairs at the home of my parents.
Thank you for allowing me to share my personal testament to the importance of giving our military the reverence and recognition they deserve. War is a terrible thing, but it is crucial to remember that one's stance on a conflict should not reflect the respect given to those who fought. This is a universal truth for all nations. Each and every veteran-- and especially those who paid the ultimate price-- should be honored.
Furthermore, there is numerous military personnel who never see combat and/or serve during times of peace. All current, former, and deceased service members deserve validation.
What's the best way to go about this? It can seem a bit mind-boggling where to even begin.
Military Memorial Bracelets Gift
Yet when Ruben told me about military memorial bracelets, I knew this was the perfect solution. What better gift for an active member of the armed forces or a veteran? Wearing these military memorial bracelets to commemorate a loved one who perished resonates deeply with me.
Jewelry is deeply personal. It is a reflection of one's taste, yes....but it's so much more. Wearing a symbolic piece demonstrates both your personality and your values. A memorial bracelet is a poignant way to remember somebody every time you glance at your wrist.
His new line, Chibuntu, specializes in men's bracelets. More specifically, minimalist-style men's bracelets to accommodate a wide variety of styles and tastes. Beaded, twisted, string-- Chibuntu offers a plethora of options.
But first, let's shatter any ridiculous notion that bracelets are not for men. Welcome to the 21st century, where accessories make the man. Just as a statement watch is a go-to staple, so too are pieces of jewelry designed specifically for the guys.
Immediately upon viewing the collections, I honed in on what I wanted: army bracelets for my father. Both the Light and Dark Military Bracelets Packs look like something he would wear. In fact, it's the ideal gift. He's immensely proud of his service, but he's not one to don a 'Vietnam Vet' hat. These military bracelets are subtle, masculine, and classic-- just like him.
Furthermore, he can wear these memorial bracelets to honor his fallen comrade. Inevitably, people will compliment his jewelry, and he'll have a meaningful explanation as to his selection other than just the aesthetic.
There are also olive green and brown hues for certain styles, which also work well for army bracelets. Depending on the colors of your country's flag, corresponding pieces could be memorial bracelets. Truly, the options are endless.
I've spoken to you at length about Dad. My dear friend, Sean, gave me his permission to talk about his time in the Service as well. Sean and I became close in high sch0ol. I'll give away our ages here and say that's 20 years of friendship! Truth be told, I was astounded when he joined the Army. Yet to this day, he says it's one of the best things he ever did.
He served two tours in Afghanistan and spent some time in the far east. While there, he delved deep into eastern spirituality and philosophy. When I saw the strings & beaded chakra bracelets, I instantly thought of him. I won't take too much of a detour here, but if you're not familiar with chakras, read our article here that explains it pretty well.
When I showed Sean my selection for him, he reminded me in no uncertain terms about his upcoming birthday. Hint taken! Much like my father, he gravitates towards military memorial bracelets that aren't aggressive or over-the-top. In fact, without his personal military connection to the east, nobody would see this piece and think he's paying homage to his Army days. And that's just the way he likes it.
Shifting gears slightly, I want to tell you what's important to me as a consumer. I appreciate brands that are ethical, passionate, and really take the time to determine who they are, their mission, and the things for which they stand. Chibuntu checks every box.
I always take the time to read a company's "About Us" page. As soon as I clicked on Chibuntu's, at the top of the screen I saw a quote from one of my favorite authors, Mark Twain. Yes! Ruben and the Chibuntu Club Of Men set the bar high both for themselves and their customers. They encourage everyone to take the leap, conquer their dreams, and live life to the fullest.
Reading about the things that matter to them, I see a reflection of my own values. Even though I am not a man, there is a connection I feel, as though they understand who O a, and the people important to me. What more could you want?
While they certainly have choices for military bracelets, army bracelets, and memorial bracelets, I encourage everyone to explore all of the offerings. Even if military memorial bracelets aren't what you're seeking, there are so many styles from which to choose. Don't forget to peruse their watch straps, either.
On a final note, let me address the ladies. Chibuntu offers meaningful, elegant, and aesthetically pleasing bracelets and watch straps. Help the men in your life elevate his style game while demonstrating his personal philosophy.
I know that lots of you women are like me-- you love feeling cozy in your man's button-ups or tees. When my husband can't find something of his, it's almost always been borrowed by me. You'll do the same with these bracelets. Even though they are designed for men, they still look fantastic on your arm too. There is not a single style that I wouldn't wear. Heck, I might even order some pieces for us to 'share!'
If you're looking for military memorial bracelets, men's bracelets, or any quality bracelet, check out Chibuntu. Every piece is affordably priced, sustainably made, and works with any outfit. Be sure to let us know what your favorite Chibuntu piece is. We look forward to hearing from you!
